Week commencing 3rd June

This week we have been introduced to another story. We have spent the week exploring different sections of the book. We started the week by looking at the first image in the book, the children talked in detail about what they could see in the image and what they thought that the story was going to be about. We then read the next page of the book, without looking at the image on the page. The children had to use their imaginations to visualise what they thought was going to be on the image. We had some very creative drawings! We then thought about where the story was set (India) and used Google Earth to help us locate where the story was set. We then talked in detail about what we could see and wrote this as descriptive sentences. In the story the main character (Pattan) has a problem. We talked about how we could help him to solve his problem and then discussed how we could communicate this to him. The children decided to write a note to Pattan. When they had written their notes they used the chrome books to type them up.

In maths we have been learning about time. We have learned about o'clock, half past, quarter past and quarter to. Some of us have even moved on to telling the time to the nearest 5 minutes.

In PE we are continuing our Ball skills and Net and Wall game topics. In History we have been discussing what toys were like in the past. In Science we have been learning about 'Reduce, Reuse and Recycle'.
