Oliver Jeffers Review of Week beginning 3rd June 2024

Date: 10th Jun 2024 @ 8:51am

This week we have been introduced to our children  another fabulous story. We have spent the week exploring different sections of the book. We started the week by looking at the first image in the book, the children talked in detail about what they could see in the image and what they thought that the story was going to be about. We then read the next page of the book, without looking at the image on the page. The children had to use their imaginations to visualise what they thought was going to be on the image. We had some very creative drawings! We then thought about where the story was set (India) and used Google Earth to help us locate where the story was set. We then talked in detail about what we could see and wrote this as descriptive sentences. In the story the main character (Pattan) has a problem. We talked about how we could help him to solve his problem and then discussed how we could communicate this to him. The children decided to write a note to Pattan.

In maths our Year 2s  have been learning about time. We have learned about o'clock, half past, quarter past and quarter to. Some of us have even moved on to telling the time to the nearest 5 minutes.

Our Year 1s have been learning about Position and direction.

In PE we are continuing our Ball skills and Net and Wall game topics. In History we have been discussing what toys were like in the past. In Science our Years 2s have been learning about 'Reduce, Reuse and Recycle' and our Year 1s have ben measuring trees!!
